Paul Hardcastle Jr Wedding Blog

With Paul being a supplier & having a great working relationship with many wedding venues we thought that we would create a blog for all of our wedding clients. Here is some top industry tips that we have garnered through over a decade of work in the wedding industry.

How To Pick Your Perfect Wedding Venue..

As we all know, planning a wedding is sometimes very stressful & difficult. Every bride & groom want a dream wedding that their guests will never forget.

So we wanted to help you & guide you through the most important steps that you need to check & look out for when picking your perfect wedding venue. Over many many years we have worked closely with 100s of venues & have come to understand the most important things to consider when choosing a venue. Here are our top tips….

Is it the right location?

Where will your guests be coming from? You need to always have a rough idea on how far the venue is from where your guests are coming from. If it is further away for your guests then ensure that when you send out your invitations that you always include a little travel & accommodation guide. This should include information of the location of the venue & some local hotels for your guests to stay.

The flow of the day. The timings of each reception. The flow if the day is crucial, any long pauses or delays will bore your guests!

Also, if your wedding breakfast is in the same room as your evening reception make sure you ask how long the turnaround will take. Where will the guests go whilst this is happening.?

If you are having the wedding breakfast in the same room as your evening reception then this is usually the time in which the DJ / evening entertainment will set up their equipment.

Weather Conditions

The British weather can have a mind of its own! Therefore, if you are planning to have certain parts of the day outside then check with the venue that you have a plan B if the weather changes.

Access for suppliers is such a big thing, but also something that can make a day run so much smoothly. Some venues allow only 1 hour or even less to set up, when this is clearly not enough for suppliers to be able to set.

Access should be allowed from the morning until when guest arrive, it really does help when suppliers have this access to be able to make sure that everything that the client has booked is set up accurately.

Check the sound restrictions

Are you allowed amplified music outside?

For example, If you were having a drinks reception outside & wanted to have some background music/performance are you allowed to have amplified music outside (speakers)

Is there a cut of time of when you are allowed Live Performers? (Saxophone, Bongos, Violin).

For example, sometimes a venue will now allow live performers after 10pm. So make sure you check with the venue if you’re planning on having a performance after 10PM.

Make sure that where you are having each reception wheather that is outside or inside that you are allowed speakers/live music.

Check to see if there is a Sound Limiter

Ask the venue if there is a sound limiter. This is where if music is played over a certain decibel then the music will cut out. This is something that our clients never check & when they come to us we then later find out that the decibel is low. This can change the whole atmosphere of a party or any kind of entertainment that they have and is very often overlooked.

Wedding Entertainment

Entertainment is one of the most important things in getting right. Setting the tone with entertainment right from the beginning of when your guests are arriving to the ceremony all the way through to the last song of the evening.

Having a wide range of entertainment throughout the day also is very important to keep all of your guests engaged.

When booking your entertainment you want to make sure that it is exactly what you want. From experience, booking your entertainment with one entertainment agency/company is always easier, as everything is under ONE roof. You only need to then liaise with one person who can take control of all of the admin and booking process. Be careful with Facebook groups as a lot of our clients have had negative experiences with scammers / cancellations from unprofessional entertainers curated in popular wedding Facebook groups.
